Happy new year! I've been behind on our monthly summary, so this is me catching up.
It was so warm in November that we had tomatoes trying to come up through the kale. They were eliminated during the first frost, of course, but not before they had little green tomatoes!Watch out for the kale monsters!I started on a playhouse for the girls. Right now it's just a floor.As you may have seen in the videos I posted, the girls have been working on playing and singing together.It was still warm enough for a few bike rides.Believe it or not, R pets the chickens and normally is not at all afraid of them.For A's birthday, we stayed at a really nice place in Chattanooga. The weather was still nice enough to enjoy the patio!For Thanksgiving we drove out to my uncle and aunt's property in rural east Tennessee.
As a kid I used to play in this barn clambering around on haybales and watching my grandfather work with the cows. Now it's a cottage.
We went to Prentice-Cooper State Park and walked out to Snooper's Rock. It had an amazing view!For Christmas we went out to Rock Island State Park and stayed in a cabin. The exterior was decorated for the season, which was terribly exciting for the girls.The weather for Christmas was amazing!The river at Rock Island reminded us of the river that the dwarves floated down in barrels in "The Hobbit." We kept expecting to see orcs.Quoth R: "If they can climb it, so can I!"We went for a New Year's hike at Bell's Bend.And we can't have a post without an obligatory shot at Shelby Bottom!
